Statement:
I am fascinated by the interplay of strength and fragility, the precarious balance between safety and vulnerability. I seek to discover the exchanges that occur between entities, each exploring secrets held by the other. In the midst of a culture that has commodified relationships, I choose to explore the sacredness of interconnection. Working with parts of overlooked materials and ideas, my instinct guides the process. This instinct is pure. Relaying this sense of purity is my goal.
In accomplishing this goal I use two distinct yet related methods, steel rod sculptures incorporated within an installation. Both aspects encourage viewers to experience space in these two different ways, blending in and out of each other as the line between object and installation is breached and rebuilt. The installation envelops the sculptures, creating an otherworldly environment. These pieces are meditations on the interactions between entities. They encompass ruminations on relationships, both physically and cosmically.
